Superior Air Handling
Superior Air Handling is one of the nation’s leading HVAC sheet metal contractor’s, with a national presence, and with the resources and expertise to efficiently handle the largest and most sophisticated air handling projects, utilizing effective Lean Manufacturing and Lean Construction processes.
Superior Air Handling was founded in 1948 as a family owned business, performing HVAC sheet metal work for the local Utah market. In the 1960’s, the company expanded its geographic reach to meet the needs of its clients and to maximize its potential. In the 1970’s Superior honed its traveling skills and evolved into a company with a national presence, where it was focused on quality clients and quality projects regardless of geographic location.
In the 1980’s and 1990’s, Superior became increasingly unique in its focus on highly technical facilities, and quickly developed a reputation for the ability to manufacture and install HVAC sheet metal duct systems to very precise tolerances and rigorous specification requirements for Nuclear, Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Laboratory projects.
In 2002, Superior moved into its current corporate headquarters in Clearfield, Utah. With over 220,000 square feet under roof, this location houses state-of-art design, engineering and estimating offices, and an efficient 190,000 square foot manufacturing facility capable of annually producing over 12 million pounds of HVAC sheet metal ductwork.
Although involved in 3D CAD since the early 1990’s, in 2005, Superior began the conversion of its entire engineering department to a 3D CAD platform for producing field coordination drawings and shop drawings for CAM sheet metal production. Currently Superior performs Building Information Modeling (BIM) services for a number of trades including piping, tubing, and structural steel work in addition to sheet metal ductwork.
Healthcare has become the centerpiece of the company’s primary focus over the last 5 years, having completed several million square ft. of healthcare and medical research facilities.
In July 2008, Superior became part of the Harris Group of Companies, headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota. The convergence of Harris and Superior allows Superior to provide its customers more extensive mechanical abilities and engineering expertise, with higher levels of service, and operational performance.
